5 Steps to Combat Blog Plagiarism

You will never like that someone copies your articles and earn money from them. This has become a common phenomena in blogsphere. Generally new bloggers use the method of blog plagiarism to earn instant popularity. Actally last month my one of the articles on this blog was found on some other website, then I had to learn these methods to remove that copied article from that website. For combating blog plagiarism, I am giving 5 steps to tackle the blog thief in the best way.

Here are a few suggestions that will really help to combat blog plagiarism.

  • The best way to find the blog thief is to use Copyscape. With tools like copyscape, is very easy to find the websites who are using the content of your blog. You can also search for any sentence enclosed in quotes of your blog articles on Google Blog Search and Yahoo Search. This will also bring the copied aritcle in search results.
  • Contact the Webmaster or Administrator of the Site. Generally contact us section is given in the websites or they may be any contact email. You may use either of them to contact the owner of the website where you ave found your copied article.
  • See the view whois of the domain name. There you can get the name of the domain owner, the domain registrar and the web-hosting company.
  • Now Contact the web-hosting company with the informations like link of the google cache, page rank of the article, technorati ranking of your blog, alexa ranking and monthly traffic, total search results for your blog (this will show number of site linking to you).
  • Report Search Engines like google. For this you can use Digital Millennium Copyright Act with Google. You can also complain the site advertisers to remove their ad from that website.

I strongly hope these 5 steps can easily get yourself rid of the problem of Blog Plagirarism.
