Today after long discussions and debates, IPL has finally banned Harbhajan from rest of the IPL cricket tournament. He is found guilty of slapping SreeSanth. So a single slap has cost him a sum of 3 crores rupees. SreeSanth is also warned by IPL for showing extra emotions on the playground whereas Mumbai Indians manager Lalchand Rajput has been fined 50 % of the match fees for not protecting SreeSanth from Harbhajan’s slap. This ban is a big setback for Mumbai Indians team which had already lost all the four matches and has still 10 league matches to play. According to ICC rules, there are chances of a maximum punishment of life ban or a minimum of 5 Tests or 10 ODIs.
This is what exactly happened.
The match video showed Harbhajan shaking hands with Punjab XI players. Sreesanth was also there, third in the line, but instead of shaking hands, Harbhajan slapped him. Rajput was just behind Harbhajan but he didn’t say anything and went on shaking hands with other players.
The whole country is shocked by this incident. But in my opinion, this is a very good decision. Harbhajan has paid the price of the indisciplined act.
