Australia won a record third successive World Cup on Saturday. Adam Gilchrist hit 149 in Australia’s 281 for four off 38 overs in a rain-hit match at Kensington Oval to score his first World Cup century. He reached it in 72 balls, 10 fewer than Clive Lloyd’s hundred in the 1975 final against Australia at Lord’s. Australia lifted the World Cup trophy after claiming a 53-run victory over Sri Lanka in farcical ending to a rain-shortened final on Saturday. However I didn’t watch a single match after the departure of India from World Cup, but I saw the highlights of the final match when I came to know that Australia has once again proved its dominance over the world cricket. There is no doubt that Australia is the best cricket team but we can’t overlook the performance of Srilanka in this world cup.
Australian cricket team rejoicing the victory.
Glenn McGrath celebrating his wicket.
Adam Gilchrist hit form at this World Cup at just the right time.
