In a recent list published by the international cricket counci (ICC)of top batsmen in last 132 yrs of test cricket history, Indian master blaster Sachin Tendulkar hasn’t managed to secure his spot in the top twenty greats. The list was prepared on basis of the highest rating secured by these players. Several modern day players such as Kumara Sangakara, Ricky Ponting, Micheal Hussy, Mohammad Yousuf etc. are there in the list. The highest rating ever scored by a batsman in test cricket is 961 by Sir Don Bradman. He is followed by Sir Walley Haymond, Jack Hobes. Sachin’s highest rating was 898 after the home series against the Australia in 1998.
The only Indian representation in top list is Sunil Gavaskar who resides at the bottom of the list. As usual the roar amongst the expert community about the exclusion of Sachin is immense but the authenticity of the ICC ratings have been seldom questioned. But I feel that if Sachin is not there then there must be some fault in the rating system of ICC. What do you think?

Gavaskar’s debut is what gets him in this list. 1971 was the first time India won two series abroad. Indian postal service had released a stamp to celebrate the feat.
