Some useful Drupal Modules

Drupal A few days ago, when I was adding some new modules in my site 100rupees.com, I read the article of Nick Lewis. In that article he has suggested 10 drupal modules that will kill you in sleep if you don’t install them now. But I think he has missed out some of the core drupal modules that I think must be the part of any website if it is made using Drupal CMS. However I have got  good experience of running a drupal powered site, so I can easily point out some useful modules that will really enhance the quality of your website.

These are some useful modules that I will recommend for any Drupal website ::

  1. TinyMCE WYSIWYG EDITOR -> For using the default editor the user must have knowledge of HTML, so it is quite difficult for a common user to use that editor as Most people don’t know how to code an image, link, paragraph, unordered list, how image to insert and align images. Therefore, in my opionion using this tinyMCE editor makes your site very user friendly.
  2. gsitemap -> Creates a Google Sitemap at q=gsitemap
  3. logintoboggan -> The login Toboggan module offers several modifications of the Drupal login system in an external module by offering a large number of features and usability improvements.
  4. service_links -> Add Digg, del.icio.us, reddit, Technorati etc. links to nodes.
  5. wordfilter – > Replaces words inside posts with filtered versions.
  6. invite – > Allows users to send GMail style invitations, and automatically escalates new users who use them to a role of your designation.
  7. Adsense – > It provides you the facility to display ads from google’s adsense service on your site.
  8. Syndication – > Ability to allow readers to add your feed right into readers like MyYahoo, Google and other popular readers.
  9. Printer Friendly Pages – > Generates printer friendly pages for all node types.
  10. Notify – > It allows user to subscribe to periodic emails which include all new or revised content or comments  like daily news letters sent by websites.
  11. SiteMap – > It provides a site map that gives visitors an overview of your site. It can also display the RSS feeds for all blogs and categories.
  12. Send – > It add “tell a friend” functionality to any node type, tracks send actions in CiviCRM(if installed) and maintains a history of sent items.

    One of the biggest problems I have found when it comes to expanding Drupal is finding the modules in Drupal’s site – it’s there, but man, it’s hard to spot. So for anyone who has faced the same, I would suggest to navigate to druplet.com, it has an search form which makes finding drupal modules much easier, they could do better, but it’s 100 times better than what I’ve seen before.
