Build your search engine with Yahoo

Yahoo_BOSS.jpgYahoo has introduced a new version of its search API. Now you can create your own search engines based on Yahoo’s search technology. Also, this service is completely free. This search API has been give the name “Build-your-On-Search-Service” (in short BOSS). Now, webmasters and developers will have more control over the search API. With BOSS, web developers can reconfigure the websites ranking system, design and customize the appearance of search and can blend search results from Web, news and image indexes with any data source from across the Web. Yahoo has also announced that it will make all of its search engine indexes available to BOSS users which was earlier limited to 5000 per day.

“BOSS opens up the playing field for developers and companies to disrupt the search market, become principals in search and build new Web search experiences that offer more choice for users,” Prabhakar Raghavan, chief strategist for Yahoo Search.

Developers, webmasters, bloggers, start-ups, small and large Internet companies can use BOSS to build and launch web-scale search products that utilize the complete Yahoo search technology. To get started first read the documentation and then create the BOSS application ID.
