The Firefox Extensions which I use

firefox.JPGFirefox Extensions are small add-ons that add new functionality to your firefox browser, from a simple toolbar button to a completely new feature. They allow you to customize Firefox to fit your own needs and preferences, while letting us keep. I also use firefox as a default browser in my desktop. I am providing the list of extensions which I use with firefox.

About this site 1.1 provides site information through tabbed windows. It can be accessed by right-clicking anywhere on a page, this extension shows Alexa traffic information, Google Linked or Google Related information, performs Whois query, searches Technorati for references, or searches the Internet Archive Wayback Machine for stored copies of pages.

Video DownloadHelper 2.6 is a tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item. For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, you’ll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm, DreamHost and others. When you are on a page containing links to images or movies, you can download some or all of them at once. Moving the mouse over the items in the menu will highlights the links directly in the page to make sure they are the ones you want to pick up. It also allows you to download files one by one, so that you keep bandwidth to surf for other stuff to download.

Adblock 0.7.5.3 is an ad-blocking extension that uses content filtering and URL blocking to prevent Firefox from displaying unwanted images. It is very easy to add new terms to block, including wildcards and file types. It’s possible to use Regular Expressions (text patterns that can match various text strings) as new terms. You can also right-click on ads and choose to block them from the context-sensitive menu.

Bandwidth Meter and Diagnostics 1.1 provides a menu option under Tools for testing the bandwidth of your Internet connection. The extension downloads four files of varying size and calculates bandwidth based on average download time. It displays your public IP address, your public domain name, test download speed/bandwidth, test upload speed/bandwidth

FlashGot 0.7.5 helps you to download one link, selected links or all the links of a page together at the maximum speed with a single click, using the most popular, lightweight and reliable external download managers.

Cards 0.98 offers different solitaire games, from Aces Up to Yukon. Unfortunately, it doesn’t explain any of these games, so you won’t be learning much about the world of solitaire. All games are played in a new pop-up window that won’t interfere with your browsing.

Noscript 1.2.9 allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, and guards the “trust boundaries” against cross-site scripting attacks (XSS). Such a preemptive approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities with no loss of any functionality.

ColorZilla 1.0 provides a color reading from any point in your browser that can easily be pasted into another program. The most helpful feature lets you zoom in on the page you are viewing (though still not as well as the Opera browser does natively) and measure distances between any two points on the page. Once zoomed, you can pan the page using Alt+Shift+Drag. All of this functionality is accessed by right-clicking on the ColorZilla icon at the left side of the browser-status bar and selecting the ColorZilla submenu.

FoxyTunes 2.9.5 places remote controls for the media player of your choice within Firefox so you can control your music without leaving your browser. The controls appear on the status bar or one of the toolbars, so no space is wasted. You can pause, forward/reverse, play, adjust the volume, and see what’s playing. There’s also an alarm clock and a sleep timer. This is a must-have extension for users who regularly listen to music while browsing the Web. It supports WinAmp, iTunes, Yahoo usic Engine, Pandora, foobar2000, Windows Media Player, Xbox Media Center, Musicmatch, Quintessential, J. River, jetAudio, XMPlay, MediaMonkey, Media Player Classic, Sonique, wxMusik, Real Player, XMMS, Noatun, Juk, Amarok, Music Player Daemon, Rhythmbox and many other players.

Map This 0.2.0 This extension will let you get a Google map for any address on a webpage. Just select the address, right-click and choose "Map This". Also, you can set your home location in the preferences, and choose "Map To This" to get driving directions.

ScrapBook 1.3.2.6 ScrapBook is a Firefox extension, which helps you to save Web pages and easily manage collections. Key features are lightness, speed, accuracy and multi-language support. Through this you can save Web page, snippet of Web, whole Web site, Organize the collection in the same way as Bookmarks, do Full text search and quick filtering search of the collections, do editing of the collected Web page etc.

Tabbrowser Preferences 1.3.1.1 gives you greater control over Firefox’s tabbed window interface through the Tools | Options | Tabbed Browsing menu. Tabs can appear at the top or bottom of the browsing window and can be locked so that all clicked links open in a new tab. New tabs let you open URLs from the URL bar and searches from the search bar. It can even force every new tab to load your homepage.
