google_mobile.pngFinally, Nokia has tied up with Google to provide web search facility on its cell phones like Nokia N96, Nokia N78, Nokia 6210 Navigator and Nokia 6220 classic. This will help Google to reach Nokia customers in over 100 countries around the world, speaking more than 40 languages. At the GSM World Congress, the company also launched a number of new devices including phones that offer location- based navigation services. These GPS-enabled phones will be priced at about Rs 26,000 with additional charges of subscription of the GPS services. The world first pedestrian phone Nokia 6210 comes with a receiver for GPS network of 24 satellites and integrated compass which will provide accurate information anywhere in the world with local map software. According to latest company updates, Nokia improved its market share to 40 per cent last year and hopes to improve it in coming quarter.

IIkka Raiskinen with Nokia said, “This integration allows our consumers the ability to use the innovative search technologies, which have made Google almost synonymous with Internet search.”

Nokia has said these models are no longer mobile phones but mini personal computers. The devices exhibit different location-based and multimedia experiences from pedestrian navigation to geo-tagging and movie viewing to video and photo sharing. The phones would be in the market from second quarter this year. This is really a huge win for Google especially when Yahoo is also heavily marching into the wireless market.
