Google Trends for websites

in: Google

google-trends.pngYou may be aware of Google Trends. It is an online tool from Google Labs that shows the most popularly searched terms from the beginning of 2004 to now. Google Trends chart shows how often a particular search term is entered relative the total search volume across various regions of the world, and in various languages. It is one of the important tools for webmasters for getting the idea of searches made on internet. Till now we can search keywords in Google trends, now we can also search web site addresses here. Now Google trends compare and rank web site visits across geographies, and related websites and searches. After entering a domain name into Google Trends, it will return you traffic, search and geographic visitation data for that site. Trends for Web Sites will show sites related to the domain name you entered, it will also show searches that are correlated to the domain name and if you are logged into your Google account, it will show the estimated traffic for that site. You can enter up to five domain names and Google will plot line graphs for all the domains you entered in.

Let’s take and example. I am comparing the trends for Yahoo.com, MSN.com and AOL.com

It will also show the Regions where these websites are mostly visited, related websites, and related searches. Here you will have drop down where you can select Yahoo, MSN or AOL at a time and see their details.

Uptill now, I normally use Alexa for getting more informations on websites, now I can also use Google Trends for this purpose. Thanks Google.
