36 lakh people applied for 11000 SBI Clerical jobs

UnemploymentJust last week, a news came in Times of India regarding the current situation of job market especially the Government Jobs market. The report said that for 11,000 clerical posts in State Bank of India, more than 36.11 people have applied out of which most of them are post-graduates or MBAs. The reasons of huge number of applications coming for the these jobs are mainly the recession and a freeze on recruitment in private sector and multi-national companies. SBI is now under huge pressure, actually it is very difficult to conduct and manage exams for such a large number of candidates. SBI officials are planning to conduct the entrance exam in three phases, on November 8, 15 and 22, in two shifts. This is the best possible way to manage large number of applicants.

I have one question, after the exam what will happen to more than 35 lakh people? Where will they get the job? I don’t have any answer. What do you think on this issue?

everyone will jump if they have opportunity. if i am clerk and got officer job in another govt bank, no idiot is going refuse.

and about number. 36 Lakh have applied, half of them won’t even be serious about getting the job. most of the other half would probably study for few days before the exam.

the competition will probably be between 1 to 3 Lakh of those aspirants who have tried hard for the job.

I applied for this job despite getting already selected for SBI Associate Bank. everyone says if merger doesn’t happen, then SBI is far better than associate banks.

So every other Govt Bank, private bank employees will apply for SBI. no doubt thats gonna increase competition like hell.
