Vacancies for scientists at DRDO

DRDO.JPGThe Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is one of Asia’s largest defence contractors and a leading aerospace manufacturer, headquartered in New Delhi, India. It was formed in 1958 by the merger of Technical Development Establishment and the Directorate of Technical Development and Production with the Defence Science Organisation. DRDO has a network of 51 laboratories which are deeply engaged in developing defence technologies covering various disciplines, like aeronautics, armaments, electronic and computer sciences, human resource development, life sciences, materials, missiles, combat vehicles development and naval research and development. The organization includes more than 5,000 scientists and about 25,000 other scientific, technical and supporting personnel. DRDO, India’s premier technology organization employs bright, qualified and competent scientists and technologists in Group ‘A’ (Class-I) technical service known as Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS) as Scientist B through DRDO Scientist Entry Test (DRDO SET) -2009.

Scientist B Vacancies at DRDO:

  • 200 + posts are there.
  • Pay Band : PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 Grade Pay Rs.5400
  • Maximum Age : 28 years
  • Qualification : At least first class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology (B.Tech./ BE) in Chemical/ Electrical/ Electronics & Communication/ Mechanical/ Computer Science from a recognized University in respective/relevant discipline.
  • Application Form : Candidates are required to apply in the Electronically Scanable Application Form specified for DRDO SET – 2009, will be available at the designated branches of State Bank of India (SBI) from 5th May 2009 to 5th June, 2009.

Written Exam : DRDO SET exam will be conducted on 06/09/2009 and will be of three hours duration consisting of two sections viz. Section ‘A’ of 100 questions to test the candidate’s knowledge in the subject of their B.E./ B.Tech. (for Engg. discipline) or MSc ( for Science Discipline) and Section ‘B’ of 50 questions to test the candidate’s ability in analytical and qualitative skills, current affairs and general awareness to test the aptitude and scientific knowledge required for Applied Research & Development.

How to Apply : Application forms should be sent/submitted to The Director, Recruitment & Assessment Centre, Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi – 110054 latest by 05/06/2009 (for candidates from A&N Island and Lakshadweep, last date is 15/06/09)

    There were two sections in the DRDO paper (Computer Science)

    1.Aptitude:-
    There were 50 questions in this section, questions were from simple reasoning or I can say that reasoning was very easy, there were verbal and non-verbal type questions. but there were also questions from English and G.K. although it was not mentioned in prospect that English and G.K questions will come,

    Some G.K.questions were easy like–Tank Developed by DRDO(Arjun).
    PRITHVI is what kind of missile(surface to surface).
    Mahatma Gandhi during breaking ognsalt rule move up to(Dandi)…etc..

    2.Technical
    Questions of this section were average, not easy not tough. questions were as I remember Mostly from Automata so prepare well Automata. String generating ques. were there.

    (A)The class of context-free language is not closed under
    1.Concatenation
    2.Union
    3.Intersection(ans)
    4.None

    (b)Which of the following sentence is generated by the production Grammer.
    s->aSbA
    A->dccA
    1.abbbd
    2.aabccd(ans)
    3.aabd
    4.ababcd

    (C) Hard disk has a rotation speed of 7200RPM. then the latency time is
    a) .4 b) .6 c) .7 d) .9

    Some questions were from C output, they were easy.

    2 questions were related to Time-Complexity (Operating Systems).
