10 days back, one of the worst incidents happened in the history of Indian television. A female TV anchor slapped a male contestant and then within a fraction of second the male also slapped back the anchor. This drama happened in a reality TV show called Dadagiri on Bindaas TV channel, the youth entertainment channel from UTV group. This show deals with the experience of students on the very first day of their college. It is called the meanest game show by its producers. In this show, 4 students have to face the horrors of ragging on the first day of the college by three dadas in three rounds and compete against each other for a winning sum of Rs. 50,000 in cash. Actually, Dadagiri game show is a test of Physical Strength, Brain and courage. I am sharing the video in which you can see the whole incident. No doubt, Dadagiri is the meanest TV show on Indian Television. It is just a poor attempt to exploit the human feelings of fear, anxiety, greed and a lust for success. The aim of most of the TV Reality Shows is to trade human emotions for money. They simply feed on the common man’s desire to peep into someone else’s life. Even these days many fear-centric TV reality shows are running and earning good revenues for their producers. I remember an old reality show called “Kamjor Kadi Kaun” where Neena Verma was the host. There she simply used to abuse the participants. It is nothing but a shrewd business where you have to generate more controversy as it translates to hard cash. What do you think on this issue?
