Shaadi.com the best practice Website in India

After the studyof 121 most popular websites in the country, conducted by online research consultancy firm JuxtConsult, credited Shaadi.com for being the Best Practice Website in India. Shaadi.com has been adjudged as the matrimonial portal with the best practices, achieving a score of above 95 percentile.

Mr. Vibhas Mehta, Business Head of Shaadi.com said, We are elated and humbled by this recognition on a national platform. It is a reflection of our commitment to providing a simplified, trusted and proven matrimonial services website.

The online research conducted by JuxtConsult reveals that only 26 (or about 1 in 5) of the websites are truly ‘customer-responsive’. Of the 26 highly user-friendly identified, 12 websites stood out to form the benchmark or the best ‘practiced group’. Shaadi.com is featured amongst these 12 websites.

This evaluation and classification of the top 121 highly popular websites in India in terms of their customer responsiveness and download times was done by JuxtConsult as part of its study to measure and calculate User Friendliness Index (UFI) of these websites. All the 121 sites were measured on the 32 individual usability criteria to arrive at the comprehensive usability index, or User-Friendliness Index (UFI) of each website. Only 26 of the 121 most popular websites in India were able to qualify to be tagged User Friendly.

To make the study more comprehensive and representative, the top 5-6 websites from 23 popular online categories were included. The top 5-6 websites from each of these categories were selected using a combination of the Alexa traffic ranking data and the user preference of these websites as measured through a large online internet survey conducted by JustConsult in May 2006 under its In Asia Online 2006 study.

and the important part of the shaadi.com is that it is entirely build on the LAMP(Linux,Apache,Mysql,Perl/PHP/Python) technology.

Has anyone over there reviewed http://www.timesofshaadi.com yet?

I certainly feel the site is well designed but I wish I could say for their atrocious customer service and the pesky ads. You’d think they fleece singles enough with subscription fees not to have constant citibank popup windows (is that really considered good practice?!).

In terms of simplicity and innovation, I really prefer sites like http://www.hastamilan.com – minimalist design and powerful.. it lets you leave messages for any profile you can find on just about any site – for free! You can even receive messages from profiles on sites you’re not even registered on!

Curious to know if JuxtConsult is an independent research firm or not :)

Yes Mayuri, we are an independent & credible research firm… otherwise how dare we share findings in public domain on a regular basis :-)

I guess, you are reading an old post based on a methodology we chalked ourselves in 2007, as we believe 6 experts evaluating websites on objective parameters of “user friendliness” and “large number of users and non-users” evaluating a website may throw different results.

Therefore, the year after this study became a user feedback based study, we have come out with a completely new methodology and shared the findings in public domain.

I agree that Shaadi does fleece their users far too much money. The website may have a consistent looking look to the site but I see unnecessary repetition also. I am sure that after I make many users aware of this evaluation site here, we can get a full insight into how not so brilliant shaadi is or not. As for being the safest service, I don’t think so. I received phone calls from users that were abusive and others from undesirables and had to remove my number as a result of this.
