Common Errors by WebMasters

Most of the website owners commit these mistakes. They use high number of meta keywords, not registering domain name for a big period of time (say 5 years), absence of permanent redirect on the site. I found these three troubles on most of the sites (on abhisays.com also :-( ). Now let’s discuss one by one.

High Number Of Meta Keywords
If you are using high number of keywords as meta, then you are diluting the effect of your most important keywords. You should keep the keywords to 10 or less in meta-data.

Domain Expires Within A Year
Google and other search engines may penalize websites with domains that are set to expire soon as many spam sites are often registered for short periods of time. Most registrars support paying upfront for several years and the cost is usually only about $10-$20 per year, so it is generally worth it. So I will recommend you to register your domain for at least 3 to 4 years.

Permanent Redirect Not Found
Search engines often regard abhisays.com and www.abhisays.com as two different websites unless you take specific measures to signal to them that they are the same site. The best way to handle this situation is to setup what is known as a permanent redirect (or a “301″ redirect) from one of these sites to the other. This way, any links that are pointing to the secondary site benefit the primary site, from an SEO perspective. If you use permanent redirect method then your site must be experiencing the negative effects of link fragmentation (some of the inbound links may point to www.abhisays.com and others to abhisays.com).
