If you are a web-designer then you must be aware of the power of Joomla as a content management system. But for those readers who do not know about this powerful tool, Joomla! is a free, open source content management system for publishing content on the world wide web and intranets. The system includes features such as page caching to improve performance, RSS feeds, printable versions of pages, news flashes, blogs, polls, website searching, and language internationalization. It can be installed on your web host in just 5 minutes.
But for development and testing purposes webmasters prefer to install Joomla on their local pc. For doing so, normally they install Apache server, php and mysql first and do all the necessary settings and then at last install joomla. But I have found a shortcut for that. If you want to avoid all the troubles of installing everything separately then use JSAS. JSAS the best tool for the joomla developers, it runs both apache and mysql server at the same time, installs php on your computer, and it even helps you create your own websites easily. It allows you to install several Joomla sites on your one local development server. JSAS is actually a standalone server. Standalone servers are compilations of programs that run on a single PC, but emulates what the same set of programs will do when run on a server over the Internet. They usually contain a web server (such as the Apache HTTP Server), one or more languages (like php), and one or more databases (mysql). So if you are interested in Joomla then you must use JSAS. I am also in search of this type of standalone server for WordPress, Drupal and Coppermine also. If you have any idea then please comment.
