Why do you want to do MBA?

in: MBA

MBA100 day are left for CAT (Common Admission Test), one of the toughest MBA entrance examinations in the world. It is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) – Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Shilong. Some of the other prestigious Indian B schools like SP Jain,MDI, NITIE, IMT, MICA etc. also use CAT score for their selection process. If you are preparing for CAT then you must answer the question, Why MBA? MakeMyTrip founder Deep Kalra says “the MBA is a wonderful degree. You can either use it as a noose, or you can use it as insurance.” He did his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.

Why MBA?

  • To have increased Self-Confidence
  • More Money on salary day.
  • To change your life and work
  • Better networking in corporate world.
  • To have a global brand value. Yes, MBA degree has better brand value as compared to other professional degrees.
  • Get skills of economics, finance, marketing, operations, management, and accounting, as well as skills of leadership, teamwork, ethics, and communication that are very important for career growth.
  • A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw that crow, and asked, “Can I also sit like you and do nothing? The crow answered: “Sure, why not.” so, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it. Moral of the story :: If you want to sit idle and do nothing, you must be sitting very, very high. To sit high you must have an MBA degree.
  • If you are starting a business of your own, that MBA degree will be very handy. While obtaining an MBA, you will learn to plan for a business and acquire capital funds for your venture. The statistics show that people who have an MBA do 50% better than those who don’t.

Do you know why the MBA degree was created? Earlier engineers working for companies were promoted to managerial positions, and most of the time they didn’t know how to manage big projects and assignments, although they were good at technical skills. Believe me management is completely different field. That is why Companies needed managers who could understand what the engineers were saying so that they could properly manage them. However, managers without engineering degrees often did not understand the engineers and their needs. So it is always beneficial to have engineering degree, 3-4 years of work-ex and then MBA degree.
