This weekend I visited PVR to watch hindi movie Rock On. It is one of the few hindi films based on struggle and challenges faced by a rock band called Magik. Rock On has Arjun Rampal and debutantes Farhan Akhtar and Prachi Desai in the lead roles, along with Luke Kenny, Purab Kohli, Koel Purie, Shahana Goswami and Nicolette Bird. It has been written and directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Farhan Akhtar. Once again Farhan has repeated the success of Dil Chahta hai and Lakhsya. The Story begins when ‘Magik’ is first shown jamming and then performing the song Socha Hai at a live rock concert. The music is composed by the composer-trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy in the style of 70’s style rock music. All the tracks are all worth listening to over and over again.

Rock On!! is the story of 4 friends who put together the greatest band this country has ever seen,but never make it. Years later date conspires to bring them together again and set them on a journey back to where they left off, a soul-searching into their past.

Why I like the movie Rock On?

The movie is based on a dream. It is a common dream of 4 guys who are part of a rock band called Magik. But due to some social and economic constraints they failed to produce their best. After 10 years they meet again try to catch their old dream. Such films are rare in Bollywood. I must appreciate Farhan for producing such a nice movie on completely offbeat subject called Rock music. Still very few people in India love to hear rock music. It was a big risk to produce a film on such an offbeat topic. But once again Farhan has proved that he is the best. Moreover, Farhan has proved his music talent with songs like Socha hai whose lyrics and video I am sharing with you.
