Reliance acquired DTS in 7.5 million dollars

anil_ambani.gifAnil Ambani’s Reliance Big Entertainment Ltd (RBEL) has acquired 100 % stake in the digital images business of the US-based DTS Inc in approximately $7.5 million in cash. It is first overseas acquisition in the digital-services space by RBEL. DTS Digital Images (DDI) which is also known as Lowry Digital Images, provides picture quality improvement services for movies, television and video content. DTS is the market leader in the field of digital restoration and enhancement of moving pictures, using their own developed proprietary tools and algorithms.

DDI main clients are Walt Disney, Paramount Pictures, MGM and 20th Century Fox. It has restored more than 300 of the world’s most recognized feature films with output to DVD, HiDef, 35mm film, Digital Cinema, and IMAX. Its major works include Casablanca, Singing in the Rain, Sunset Boulevard, Indiana Jones trilogy, Star Wars trilogy, James Bond films and Disney classics such as Cinderella and much more.

At present RBEL is successfully running gaming portal Zapak, social networking site Big Adda, online and offline movie rental business Big Flicks and Jump Mobile, a mobile entertainment venture. Now with this acquisition, Reliance Big Entertainment would easily gain access to Hollywood studios for its content and post-production services. Welcome Anil in Hollywood ! :-)
