Slumdog Millionaire wins eight Academy Awards

Danny Boyle Anil Kapoor.jpg“Slumdog Millionaire” has won eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, this Sunday night at the 81st annual Academy Awards ceremony. Moreover, Smile Pinki, a documentary based in India, beat out The Final Inch, another documentary based in India, to win Best Documentary Short Subject. It’s was really an incredible night for India. The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. The 81st Academy Awards ceremony was held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honor its selection of the best films of 2008 on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

I must say, this is really a great achievement for Indian Cinema. Now we have Indian talents like A R Rehman, Irfan Khan, Dev Patel getting recognized in international film industry. Once again it has been proved that Indians are best in the world. Jai Ho India.
