The Rise, Fall and Rise of Salman Khan

in: Movies

Salman KhanSalman Khan started his career with family drama Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988, where he played the role of hero’s brother. However, his first leading role in a Bollywood movie was in Sooraj R. Barjatya’s romantic love story Maine Pyar Kiya (1989). It is still one of India’s highest grossing films. After the great success of Maine Pyar Kiya, he became the heart throb of Indian cinema. Following with other box office hits he showed his terrific performance in Saajan (1991), Sanam Bewafa (1990), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). He lived all types of roles on silver screen, sensitive, vulnerable, funny, aggressive and charming as his role demands.

Everything was going well, but suddenly in 1998 he was arrested by the local police from the shooting location of the film Hum Saath-Saath Hain, for killing protected wild animals. As he result, he spent about a week behind the bars. In September 2002, Salman Khan again hit the headlines after he crashed his Land Cruiser near the American Express bakery in Bandra, killing one man and injuring others.

His relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai was a well publicised topic in the Indian media. After their break-up in March 2002, Rai accused him of harassing her. She claimed that Khan had not been able to come to terms with their break-up and was hounding her; her parents lodged a complaint against him.

During late 90s, his career was in doldrums, but he made solid comeback with films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Tere Naam (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), No Entry (2005), Partner (2007), Wanted (2009) and Dabangg (2010). He not only managed to revive his career with these superhit movies, but also to restore the confidence of his producers and distributors alike. His latest film Ready is the most successful of this year.

I have created one photo feature on the rise, fall and rise of Salman Khan. Let’s see this and don’t forget to give your comments.
