I can’t believe, India has won second medal in 2008 Beijing Olympic games. After Abhinav Bindra’s gold medal, the first ever individuals Olympic gold for India, this is for the first time after 56 years that the Indian contingent will return from Olympic Games with more than one medal. Today wrestler Sushil Kumar has won second medal for India in Beijing Olympics, a bronze, after defeating Kazakhstan’s Leonid Spiridonov in the Repechage match in 66-kg freestyle wrestling event. The gold medal went to Turkey and Silver to Ukraine.
After winning the Olympic Bronze medal, Sushil Kumar has become the second Indian wrestler to win a bronze medal in wrestling after K D Jadhav did the same magic in 1952 Helsinki Games. Meanwhile Haryana Government has announced cash prize of 25 lakhs for Sushil. This medal certainly came as a surprise to Indian fans and even I was not expecting any more medal for India in these games. Great work Sushil! Congrats!

Earlier, India’s ace freestyle grappler Sushil Kumar lost out in the first round to Ukraine’s Andriy Stadnik in the men’s 66 kg freestyle event. He had garnered a point in that round which helped him here to get into the play-offs.
