According to Indian Constitution, India is a secular country as it prohibits discrimination against members of a particular religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. How internet has changed in last 10 years?

old-times I completed 10 years as an internet user. I still remember, in 2003, I used internet for the first time in my life. It was a small cyber cafe and I was charged 20 rupees for around an hour. The computer system was loaded with Windows 98 operating system and the screen resolution was 800*600. My friend and I were struggling to find the address of the AIEEE counseling website. The owner of the cyber cafe soon realized our ignorance and asked us to search in Google. This was the first time I heard the word called Google :-)

Want to restart the blog after a long break!

restart-blogging It has been almost 6-7 months, I haven’t added significant content to my blog. In this period of time, I relocated to United States. This was a period of transition, from rupee to dollar. I got strong feeling that this blog was not getting me enough returns for my hard work and time. Doordarshan is still alive, here is the proof!

doordarshan-futureI don’t have television in my house but I have never missed any of my favorite shows and serials on different channels, thanks to internet. Most of the TV channels have their dedicated internet websites where you can find the videos of their programs. Some sites also allow the live streaming of the channel. This weekend, I somehow I landed on the official website of Doordarshan, the  largest public broadcasting organisation in India. Its network of 1400 terrestrial transmitters cover more than 90.7% of India’s population.

I miss the days when there were no mobile, no internet, no hundreds of channels, no cacophony of twnety four by 7 news channels. How to stop rapes in Delhi?

Rape Once again Delhi, the capital of India, is in headlines for wrong reasons, for the brutal rape and torture of a five year old girl. She was abducted on April 15 and kept hostage by her neighbor for two days without food and water and repeatedly raped in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar. She is the fifth minor to have fallen prey to rapists this month. Total there have been 393 rape cases registered by Delhi Police in last three months. The number of unreported rapes is without a doubt will be much greater.
