IT companies to hire 40000 freshers : Nasscom

IT companies hiringAs the global markets are recovering and recession looks like coming to end, IT companies have started the campus recruitment again. Capital Markets have shown good recovery after the election of the UPA government and almost all the IT sector companies have shown good quarterly results for the Q2 and have increased the revenue guidance for the next fiscal year. Now all these happenings have boosted the confidence in the market and companies are looking into hiring mode again. The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has projected that around 30000-40000 students will be recruited by IT companies in this fiscal year. Normally 1-2 lacs people are hired annually into the Indian Software Industry.

Now as we have a large pool of students is waiting for joining, there is a need to change the hiring policies for the Mass Recruiters. Companies should take the market conditions into account before making offer to campus graduates. In last one and half years, we have seen that most of the 2008-09 graduates have not been given Joining Letters after they were handed Offer letters in the campus. This has been cruel on part of the students whose careers depend largely on the first break they get in the industry.

Even many companies are asking students to join BPO in place of Technology department, which is frustrating for the engineering graduates, who work very hard for four years in college to get through an IT company. I believe this recession will be an eye opener for the fresh students, who only look for a job in IT industry. Students need to be more proactive and explore the various other opportunities available globally.
