The top tech and software companies with a vested interest in PC gaming are about to announce a new alliance.Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and others are all thought to be involved in a bid to push the PC as a gaming platform next to the latest consoles. The collaboration will be known as the PC Gaming Alliance, with the official announcement meant to come just before the Game Developer Conference, which runs February 18-22.
Microsoft has already started to push PC gaming with its Games for Windows branding. Although most of the gaming is still done P.C. and if a game I want to play comes out on multiple platforms, then I will likely choose the PC version. The latest consoles usually catch up to the PC in terms of capabilities when they are first released, but as the hardware stays the same for several years, the PC inevitably pulls away again. It can be expensive keeping your machine up-to-date for the latest games, but for the most part it’s worth it. SO to have a common platform between various variety of consoles and low performing P.C. tech companies have collaborated to tap this till now dormant but highly potential market.
