In internet world mahalo keyword introduced with the launch of Mahalo.com in 2007 by Jason Calacanis. It is basically a human-powered search engine that creates organized, comprehensive, and spam free search results for the most popular search terms. Mahalo tries to improve search results by eliminating search spam from low-quality websites, such as those that have excessive advertising, distribute malware, or engage in phishing scams.

Calacanis says that algorithmic search engines, like Google and Yahoo, suffer from manipulation by SEO experts. So Mahalo eliminates this problem by the use of human editors so that only relevant search results come on the top so Mahalo never links to spam, mediocre content, or deceptive sites. However most of the internet search experts are not agree with this concept. “Just like a lot of people who watch movies think they can be scriptwriters, there are a lot of people who use search engines who think they can build a search engine.” says Ask CEO.
