How to configure Lotus Notes for Gmail?

Which email client you use? It may be Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird or Lotus Notes. An e-mail client or e-mail reader is a front end computer program which is mainly used to manage e-mail. However, I prefer to use Louts Notes. The Lotus Notes client is not only used as an email client, but also acts as an instant messaging client (for Lotus Sametime), browser, notebook, and calendar/resource reservation client, as well as a platform for interacting with collaborative applications. Now a days, Notes also provides blogs, wikis, RSS aggregators, CRM and Help Desk systems, and organizations can build a variety of custom applications for Notes using Domino Designer. Today I will tell you how to configure your gmail email on Lotus Notes 7.0 and higher versions.

First of all click on Address book icon which is there on left side of your Lotus Notes Client interface. then from the menu click Advanced, then Accounts. Now lets do the setting of OutGoing or SMTP emails.

Account name: By default it is “Outgoing Internet Mail”. You may change this to any name.
Account server name: smtp.gmail.com
Login name: youremailid@gmail.com
Password: your Gmail password
Protocol: SMTP
SSL: Enabled
Only from location(s): Let it be default * (all locations)

On the Advanced tab give the following details
Port number: 465
Accept SSL site certificates: Yes
Accept expired SSL certificate: Yes
Send SSL certificates when asked: No
Verify account server name with remote server’s certificate: Disabled
SSL protocol version: Version 3.0 with 2.0 handshake.

Now let’s do the settings for Incoming Internet Mails or POP emails.

Account name: Anything you like. Mine is “Incoming Internet Mail”
Account server name: pop.gmail.com
Login name: youremailid@gmail.com
Password: your Gmail password
Protocol: POP
SSL: Enabled
Only from location(s): Let it be default * (all locations)

On the Protocol Configuration tab, use the following settings:
Leave mail on server: Yes

On the Advanced tab, give the following details

Port number: 995
Accept SSL site certificates: Yes
Accept expired SSL certificate: Yes
Send SSL certificates when asked: No
Verify account server name with remote server’s certificate: Disabled
SSL protocol version: Version 3.0 with 2.0 handshake

That’s it. Now you need to run the replication process to send and receive the emails. Enjoy using Lotus Notes with Gmail.
