What is the meaning of Bhaag D.K. Bose?

Delhi Belly’s song Bhaag D.K. Bose has become one of the most popular songs of the year. It has been composed and sung by Ram Sampath, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The promotional video has also been released for the song, featuring Imran Khan, Vir Das and Kunaal Roy Kapur, has been directed by Sajid Sheikh. After the release of this song, people are trying to guess meaning of D K Bose in the song. On first impression, it looks like a common Bengali name. However, if you write it as ‘Bose DK’ and it would sound like a common Hindi slang Bhosdi ke. 🙂 The singer repeatedly sings dk bose dk bose dk bose dk which eventually sounds like Bhosdi ke.

Bhosdi ke is commonly used abusive phrase in Hindi. Bhosdi means a vagina, and Bhosdi ke means ‘one who came out of a vagina’ but medically there is nothing wrong in this. But why it is slang? It is because the vagina belongs to some slut. So bhosadi ke means someone born of a slut.

Interestingly, the Central Board of Film Certification passed the song DK Bose without a single cut, they completely failed the understand the double meaning of the song.
