Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.jpgFrom ancient time, teachers or Gurus are regarded as Guides, motivators, well-wishers in India. Today is teachers day. So abhisays.com wishes all students and teachers a very happy teachers day. Students in India celebrate teachers day on 5th Sept to say thanks to their teachers for their constructive support and guidance. Teacher’s Day in India is a tribute to the hard work that is put by the teacher all year long to educate their students. In India, Teachers Day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, apart from being the President of India, he was a staunch believer of education and was one of the greatest scholars and teachers of all times.

He was one of the foremost scholars of comparative religion and philosophy, he built a bridge between Eastern and Western thought showing each to be comprehensible within the terms of the other. He introduced Western idealism into Indian philosophy and was the first scholar of importance to provide a comprehensive exegesis of India’s religious and philosophical literature to English speaking people.

His academic appointments included the King George V Chair of Mental and Moral Science at the University of Calcutta and Spalding Professor of Eastern Religions and Ethics at Oxford University . He was the first Vice President of India for ten years from 1952 to 1962, and the second President of India (1962-1967). Due to all his achievements in the field of academics, his birthday is celebrated in India as Teacher’s Day.

Teachers day is actually a “celebration” day in Indian schools and colleges, where teachers and students report to school as usual but the usual activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration and some cultural activities, thanks and remembrance. Once again abhisays wishes happy teachers day to all its readers.
