It was a fantastic performance by Indian batsmen first, and then bowler showed their capabilities in both the innings to take the wickets in regular intervals. India, the team which were always in talk for last 5-6 years and has the capability to reach to the top, attain the status of number one team in the ICC test ranking after beating SriLanka in the second test match at Kanpur. The Green Park stadium at Kanpur has been lucky to India on many occasions in the past, but it is this performance which will be remembered by Indian cricket fans at least for some time, as the whole team combined together and performed as a unit to beat the powerful Lankan side, which put India under huge pressure in the first test match. As the ICC rankings are updated once the series is over, this win has put India into joint 1st spot with South Africa.
Also this was the 100th Test match victory for India. India started playing test match in 1932, but it has to wait for 20 years to celebrate the first victory in 1952. Slowly and slowly quality of Indian cricket has been improving till the 21st century. Initially it was the India which can win matches only on Indian soil. But in the last 6-7 years India have been performing continuously better on the foreign pitches. And we have registered test series win in England, Pakistan, West Indies, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. Also we have been neck to neck in fighting with world champion Australia. During the same period we also win test matches in South Africa and Sri Lanka. So getting the number one status is the result of fine performance by team India at home and outside both. Cheer up to India and we hope that the team continues to perform with the same spirit in future too.
