Raja Harishchandra was the first feature film made in India. It was directed and produced by Dadasaheb Phalke. But you would be surprised to know that it was a complete silent film. The first Indian sound film, Ardeshir Irani’s Alam Ara released in 1931. After this movie, Indian film-makers recognized the importance music, sound and dialogues in cinema. The rest is history. Dialogues and songs are integral part of movies. Normally people don’t forget dialogues delivered by their favorite superstars. Hindi Film Dialogues are often melodramatic and invokes God, family, mother, duty, and self-sacrifice etc. Some dialogues like ‘Kitne aadmi the’ from Sholay and ‘Babu Moshay’ from Anand still live in memories of millions of Indians.
