Today I enjoyed Spiderman 3 in one of the theatres of Bhopal. There is no doubt that Spider-Man 3 will most likely be one of the highest grossing films of this year as it can easily attract a wide variety of moviegoers and countless die hard fans. But I am disappointed with the quality of the film especially the script and pacing of the film. However actions scenes this time are much better than earlier versions of Spiderman. The movie seems me to be a mumbaiya mixture of ethical dilemmas, character complexity, romance, plot twists, spiritual realities, comedy, and tragedy.
“With great power comes great responsibility” The importance of this quote is completely missed out in the movie when the brain of Peter Parker is dominated by a splotch of rubbery black that slaps and flaps itself along, sticky and prehensile like a parasite seeking a host.
Actually the story and poor script is the real weakness of the movie. Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) wants to marry Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) but Spider-Man’s popularity is getting in the way of his relationship with Mary. His best friend becomes his enemy Harry Osborn (James Franco) is still trying to find a way to kill Spiderman, but a certain series of events will make things difficult.
New photographer Eddie Brock Jr. (Topher Grace) wants to beat out Peter for a new job at the Daily Bugle while Brock’s girlfriend Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) becomes entangled in Peter’s web and also with her schoolmate Peter. Flint Marko (Thomas Hayden Church) who escapes from prison after being charged with the murder of Ben Parker, Peter’s uncle who was killed in Spiderman 1. He stumbles into a scientific testing facility where he is accidentally mutated into a superhuman comprised of sand which I think is known as sandman in the Spiderman comics.
Then an alien sludge attaches itself to Peter and transforms him into more aggressive guy. Then a large number of coincidences occurred causing quite sad end of the film with the death of Harry.
I am quite impressed by the natural performance of Mary Jane. These are her some memorable dialogues in the movie
“Everybody needs help. Even Spider-Man.”
“We’ve all done terrible things to each other, but we have to forgive each other. Or everything we ever were will mean nothing. ”
Overall the movie is quite ok when we compared it with movies of bollywood. I think we should watch this movie for some real hot scenes, cinematography, stunts and performance of Kirsten Dunst.
