Generally, Indians are patriotic by nature. Almost thousand years (1000 AD to 1947) of foreign rule has inculcated a feeling of unity and devotion towards one India. This is reflected in its music, culture and way of life. Indians are united with a common cultural heritage have a feeling of unity in spite of having external differences. Several surveys have tried to measure patriotism in different countires and the results from different studies are time dependent. For example, patriotism in India touches highest values in war like situations with Pakistan. Let’s take an eample of Patriotism Score tables from the World Values Survey. The survey was taken on the basis of question “Are you proud to be [nationality]? The patriotism range is from 1 (not proud) to 4 (very proud). India was on fourth place in 1997.
