Today Big Ben Clock is celebrating its 150th birthday. It was 150 years ago on Sunday that the four-faced historical clock started showing time, and on July 11, 1859, Big Ben first struck time. This clock is situated at the north-eastern end of the Palace of Westminster in London. It is the largest four-faced chiming clock and the third-tallest free-standing clock tower in the world. The sound of Big Ben and its tower are synonymous with London as it is the most popular landmark in the Britain. Big Ben is actually the nickname of the bell inside it, the height of Big Bang tower is 96-meter. It is a symbol of stability, endurance and democracy in Britain. According to some historians, Sir Benjamin Hall’s (the First Commissioner of Works and Public Buildings) name is inscribed on the bell, that is why it is called Big Ben.
