apple.jpgToday I found one nice inspirational TV commercial by Apple Computers on YouTube. It is a black and white TV commercial video covering significant historical people of the past, including Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon, R. Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson, Frank Lloyd Wright and Pablo Picasso. In the end, Shaan Sahota, a young american girl opens her closed eyes, as if to see the possibilities before her. I must say, it is one of the greatest ads of all time. Why you should not use ICICI credit cards?

in: India

ICICI_CreditCards.JPGEven without doing any transaction through my credit card last month, today I got my credit card statement with some interest charges. ICICI credits cards have become big source of income for this bank. They charge hidden service taxes, huge interest rate, change their policies and plans without informing the customers. I will never forget the face of that agent who suggested me to go for ICICI credit cards. He told me it is life time free, so many offers are there, 55 days credit free period, very low interest rates. Now I realized that everything that was told to me was fiction and we all know “Truth is stranger than fiction”. I am facing the truth of that credit card.

Let me tell you some unknown and hidden facts about the ICICI credit cards.
1. Maximum credit-free period is only 48 days. The credit card agents will tell you 55 days which is wrong.
2. Late payment charges are 30% of minimum amount outstanding (Minimum Rs. 400/- and maximum Rs. 600/-).
3. If you want to do cash payments at bank branches for credit card dues, then you will have to pay extra fee of Rs. 100/- per transaction.
4. If you lost your credit card then you will have to pay Rs. 100/- for getting new card.

What is your opinion now about ICICI credit cards? Do you own it? Share your experience.

Are Ranbir and Deepika getting married?

Ranbir-Deepika.jpgYesterday I got the online issue of ‘People’ magazine with the love affair of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone being the cover story. There I read the how the couple confessed about how they met and the person who was ‘actually’ instrumental in bringing them together. If you read this issue then you will observe that very soon Ranbir Kapoor and girlfriend Deepika Padukone will be tying the knot of marriage. However the couple is not disturbed with the gossips regarding Deepika’s connection with Indian cricketers and link of Ranbir with his first actress Sonam Kapoor. Even in an interview given to a news daily, Deepika said

India is 12th largest economy in World but?

in: India

Indian_Economy.jpgToday I read in rediff that India is the 12th largest economy in the world with GDP(gross domestic product) of $1.171 trillion as per as the World Bank 2007 report. In terms of purchasing power we are at fourth position. This data shows that India is one of the world’s fastest growing economies. But hold on, still there is high economic disparity with rich getting richer and poor getting poorer as its per capita income is very low, it is only $950 per annum which is around 40,000 rupees. Just imagine on an average Indians are earning even less than 4000 rupees per month. This is amazing figure. How we can say that India is growing? World’s GDP is $54.345 trillion. India shares only 2 % of it but we have more than 16 % of the world population. This is another concern.

In my opinion the biggest problem for Indian economy is the increasing population of country and the challenge of reducing economic and social inequality. Due to increasing population, poverty remains a serious problem. According to latest report from by Government of India, 25% of India’s population is below the poverty line.

Happy Raksha-Bandhan to all brothers and sisters

in: India

Raksha-Bandhan.JPGToday is Raksha-Bandhan or Rakhi, the festival which celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. The festival is marked by the tying of a rakhi, or holy thread by the sister on the wrist of her brother. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her same. It has many historical evidences. Rani Karnavati of Chittor sent a rakhi to the Mughal Emperor Humayun when she was threatened by Bahadur Shah of Gujarat. Humayun abandoned an ongoing military campaign to ride to her rescue. The rakhi may also be tied on other special occasions to show solidarity and kinship (not necessarily only among brothers and sisters), as was done during the Indian independence movement and also during Indo-Pak wars in 1965 and 1971 when Indian women teid rakhi on the wrist of Indian soldiers.

Raksha Bandhan is not just about tying of a rakhi, or holy thread by the sister on the wrist of her brother it’s also a great occasion to shower your affection on your siblings.

Brothers and sisters are like bright flowers
They grow alongside to make the garden a beautiful one
Thinking of the wonderful time we have shared
and sending you all the love that make our bond a special one.

Happy Raksha-Bandhan
