Will Computer Mouse become extinct?

mouse.JPGIf you are using internet regularly or in software industry then just imagine how many times you click mouse in a day. Now you will not going to use mouse after 3-4 years. I am not joking. Today I will tell you one surprising news about this computer mouse. There is one leading research company which says the days of the computer mouse are numbered. The mouse technology is likely to be replaced by touch screens and facial recognition devices. Even now we are not using mouse for home entertainment or working on a notebook. The name mouse originated at the Stanford Research Institute. This leading research company is Gartner.

It is an information technology research and advisory firm headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. Its clients include many large corporations and government agencies, as well as technology companies and the investment community. This prediction is driven by the rise of new technologies in consumer electronics with new interactive interfaces inspired by the world of gaming. According to the report, companies like Microsoft, Intel and Apple are promoting gestural interfaces for future use. They also found that consumer entertainment companies such as Sony, Panasonic and NEC are demonstrating applications using facial and movement recognition.

However, many computer manufacturers disagree that the computer mouse is reaching the end of its life. ‘The death of the mouse is greatly exaggerated,’ said Rory Dooley, from Logitech, the world’s biggest manufacturer of mice and keyboards. ‘The devices we use have been modified for our changing lifestyles but it doesn’t negate the value of the mouse,’ he concluded.

Very few people know about the reason behind the name “mouse”. Earlier mouse had a cord attached to the rear part of the device, which can be assumed as tail of common mouse. The first computer mouse was launched by Xerox 8010 Star Information System in 1981 for personal computers.

I also feel that it is very difficult to use computer system without a good mouse. Even I use mouse with my laptop also as the touch pad of the laptop is not as convenient as mouse.

Internet speed could be 100 times faster

Internet_Speed.jpgScientists at the centre for ultra-high bandwidth devices for optical systems (CUDOS) are developing a new photonic switch that can increase broadband speeds up to 100 times. Ben Eggleton, who is director of CUDOS at the University of Sydney, told the press that the increase in speed would not cost customer any extra money. They are developing a photonic integrated circuit for information exchange which takes only one pico-second while transferring informations and data. According to these scientists, this invention is nothing but a small scratch on a piece of glass, the circuit uses this scratch as a guide for sending and receiving information. In 1 second the switch is turning on and off about a million times.

The University of Sydney has developed the scratch in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark and financial support from Australian Research Council as a result it was developed for just £5.8m. Now the development team is looking to license the technology. In my opinion, this will certainly revolutionize the use of internet in computer world. I am restless to use an internet connection with such a speed. What do you say about this news ?

Internet_User.JPGOne of my friends always used to say that internet is nothing but just a solution to real life problems. Recently Alex Payne, a 24 years old computer engineer has developed an elegant solution to a problem encountered by most of the internet users. The service known as downforeveryoneorjustme.com allows visitors to type in a Web address and see whether a site is generally inaccessible or whether the problem is with their own Internet connection. These days many companies and people depend on the internet to continue their day today activities.

“I had seen that question posed so often. Technology companies have branded the Internet as a place that is always on and where information is always available. People are disappointed and looking for answers when it turns out not to be true.” Alex Payne

Shilpa Shetty collected 63,000 pound for charity at star event of gala night. This amount will go for charity, the Silver Star Appeal, which runs mobile diabetes assessment units. In this star night, Shilpa auctioned her kisses for 12, 500 pounds to her fan. Shilpa climbed up to the stage, took the mike and told her audience of London glitterati: ‘Come on people – this is for charity. Most Popular Indian actresses part 4

in: Movies

Shabana_Azmi_1980.JPGThe period of 1980-1990 was actually a transition phase for Indian Cinema. No one was able to replace ‘the angry young man’ from the top position. During early 80s his fame grew exponentially. When he was seriously injured in 1982 during the shooting of film “Coolie”, the country came to a standstill. Many film critics claim that 1980s are the lowest point in the Hindi film industry’s history. Western and disco music polluted the melody of Hindi movies and pale imitations of Hollywood movies gradually degraded the quality. Also the roles for women, took a backseat during early 1980s, finally became almost non-existent in mid 80s. Meanwhile, parallel cinema came into picture with young artists like Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Amol Palekar, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Amrish Puri, Pankaj Kapoor. This new type of Cinema was given the name “Art Films”. During late 70s and early 80s intellectual film makers and story writers became frustrated with mindless dance and song genre of the typical Bollywood movies. To counter this, they created a genre of films (also known as Parallel Cinema) which depicted reality from an artful perspective. Movies like Sparsh, Arth, Ankur, Ardhya Satya, Kalyug, Mandi touched the standard of world class cinema. Indian actresses like Reena Roy, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman, Amrita Singh, Deepti Naval, Jaya Prada, Meenakshi Seshadri, Sridevi became famous in this era. So let’s discuss them one by one.

Nokia launched E66 and E71 with mobile email features

Nokia_E66.JPGYesterday Nokia launched two new models in the E-series range, these two models are E66 and E71. After this launch, now Nokia has 9 phones in its E-series segment. These handsets are having mobile email compatibility which supports more than 1000 thousand email accounts from almost all the leading email service providers like Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. Also Microsoft Office is installed in the mobile set where you can download email attachments in Word, Excel, Power point or PDF files. In Nokia E66, there is an orientation sensor which automatically optimizes itself for full screen viewing or activates the silent mode when the device is turned over. These two models will definitely attract the enterprise customers as both the handsets have integrated VPN support and use advanced encryption functionality. You have to pay Rs.22,949 and Rs. 23,689 for buying E71 and E66 respectively.

Nokia_E71.JPGNokia’s marketing director Devinder Kishore said, “Enterprise mobility is here to stay in India with wider acceptance of push email amongst corporates and prosumers. With both of these devices, we have responded to consumer feedback by making calendar and contacts available at the touch of a button.” The E71 has full BlackBerry Qwerty keyboard whereas the E66 slider gives email connectivity options, including Gmail and Windows Live. Moreover, the E66 has HSDPA connectivity for speedy downloads and has both Wi-Fi and GPS in the cell phone. Both the hand-sets have 2.4 inch screen and a 3.2-mega pixel camera and the main memory is expandable up to 8Gb with batter backup of 7.5 hours. But I think price is quite high so normal users will have to wait so that price would be reduced after some months.
