Twitter had a growth of 1382%, whereas Zimbio which is on second place had a growth of 240%, followed by Facebook with a growth of 228%. India’s First Bimetallic Rupees 10 Coin

10 rupee-coin.JPGSo RBI is ready to issue the much awaited bimetallic 10 Rupee coin for circulation.The coin looks cool and light-weight. The obverse side has the lion symbol with numeral 10 and year of manufacture. On reverse side, a double line cross with a dot in each pellet of cross and denomination written in Hindi and English around. This design has been prepared by design experts at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. The outer side metal is Nickel-Bronze and the inner side metal is Ferrous Steel. The weight of the coin would be 8 grams and the diameter would be 28 mm. A recent press release from Reserve Bank of India mentioned that there will be two themes of Rupees 10 coins, 1) Unity in Diversity and 2) Connectivity and Information technology

Shakti Samanta Passes Away

Shakti-Samanta.jpgLast week Veteran Indian film producer and director Shakti Samanta passed away in Mumbai on 9 April, 2009. He was 83 years old. His funeral took place at the Santacruz crematorium at 10.30 am on 10 April. He died of heart failure at his suburban Santacruz residence. He was suffering from a brief illness, and recovering from a stroke he had suffered two months ago. The industry will never forget his contribution to Indian Cinema. May God rest his soul. In all, Samanta directed 43 feature films, including 37 Hindi, and 6 Bengali films. His best known films include Howrah Bridge, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, Aradhana, Anurodh, Amanush, China Town, Barsaat Ki Ek Raat, Kashmir Ki Kali and An Evening in Paris. He also received Filmfare Awards for “Best Film” for Aradhana, Anuraag and Amanush. He was also the former president of Indian Motion Pictures Association of India.

Maradona’s Hand of God Goal

It was a quarter final match between Argentina v England, played on 22 June 1986, during the 1986 FIFA World Cup at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The match, between two of the biggest powers in world football, is remembered as one of the most epic in FIFA World Cup history due to the Hand of God controversy. For Argentina, Diego Maradona scored two of the most famous goals in football history. His first, after fifty one minutes, was the Hand of God goal in which Maradona scored via an illegal, but unpenalized, handball. His second, after fifty four minutes, saw him dribble past six England players and was voted in 2002 as the Goal of the Century. Finally, Argentina won the game 2-1 and went on to win the 1986 World Cup with a victory over West Germany in the final.

Ekta Choudhury is the Femina Miss India 2009

Now she will represent India at the Miss Universe Competition which will be held at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23, 2009. Pooja Chopra was crowned Miss India World and Shriya Kishore became Miss India Earth 2009. In this ceremony there were dazzling performances by Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Genelia D’souza, choreographed by Shiamak Davar. The Miss India contestants used the designer fabrics created by designers Ritu Kumar, Rocky S., Pantaloons and Prasad Bidappa. This show was choreographed by Marc Robinson and hosted by Bollywood beauty Malaika Arora Khan and star R. Madhavan.
